To be honest it's slightly embarrassingly pre-manufactured... it's a brownie mixture topped with the nearest thing to icing that I could find in our supermarket - some sort of microwavable glaze that was a bit darker-chocolate than I had thought, but I love how the skewer marbling effect turned out.
Ah, I guessed right then! There's nothing wrong with box mix though, they're real timesavers and also mean you won't forget a vital ingredient e.e The girl that does Nerdy Nummies on Youtube uses boxed products all the time simply because it's convenient and for her, it's more about the presentation than anything else.
Even if you can't find real icing, it's very easy to make. Just mix 1 cup confectioner's sugar, 1 tsp vanilla extract, and 2 tbsp cream/whole milk (or substitute strong coffee for mocha flavor). You might want to heat it a little before drizzling, it's stiff when cold. For the chocolate coating, you'd probably want more of a ganache, which is pretty much just adding heavy cream and sugar to melted semisweet chocolate and maybe including some instant coffee granules.
(Can you tell I love chocolate and coffee?)
Good job on the marbling though! It's really clean and elegantly done. It really does make for very nice presentation and looks pretty professional. :D
Your practicality is admirable :) I never grew into tea or coffee, but I'll definitely try those. Even though I do not have a lot of talent for cooking besides baking, I enjoy making things look... nice.
Pff. We all start out making Chipped Egg On Pan. :D
Well, for me cooking is a lot of fun, but I have also made it a priority to cook efficiently and in bulk. My college years were very tight and mostly involved learning how to properly dissect expired convenience store sandwiches. Even if everything else is tough, a good meal can carry you through a lot. You can tolerate baked pasta and burritos every day if it's flavorful enough!
